Welding is a key technical fabrication process that is done in accordance with specific methods. All in all, the goal is to achieve maximum quality and life expectancy, as well as to ensure that safety is never compromised. For this reason, technicians are using aiding tools such as clamps or adjustment magnets that help them hold the two pieces together, achieving the best possible results.

Here are the most common welding clamps and welding magnets, and when it makes sense to use them.

4-in-1 Welding Clamp

This is a versatile sliding arm clamping system featuring a v-pad and an extender block. It is meant to help technicians hold two or more pieces together, usually sheets of metal with cross-pieces. In many cases, they are also used as “step-over” aids.

Ground Hog Welding Clamp

This is another type of a clamp that provides a powerful holding force and a secure cable connection via a side screw. It is considered a lot more specialized than the “generic” 4-in-1, helping improve arc stability by isolating the contact surface and the cable connection.

Sheet Metal Welding Magnets

As the name suggests, these magnets are used with sheet metals, holding them onto metal panels and close to each other for welding purposes. These magnets feature a plastic handle for a comfortable grip, and they are generally strong.

Snake Welding Magnets

These are similar to the sheet metal magnets above, but are held together by a cable for more freedom. The magnets hold firmly on the pieces and allow enough flexibility to perform odd angle weldings.

Adjust-O Welding Magnets

These magnets are housed inside a tool that enables technicians to weld ferrous metal pipes, sheets, and pieces in 90-degree and 45-degree angles. They are particularly useful because their massive magnetic force can be turned on or off via a switch.
