Construction To Begin On $1.3 Billion Osceola Steel Mill

Despite Nucor Steel’s efforts to block the project, construction for the $1.3 billion Big River Steel mill from Osceola will begin on September 22.

Nucor Steel accused the company of violating the Clean Air Act, and although the lawsuit remains unresolved, Osceola is moving forward with its steel mill and plans to employ over 500 workers.

After receiving $125 million in state bonds and $14.5 million from Mississippi County’s economic sales tax, the Osceola steel mill will finally commence.
