Airbus Awarded $1.87 Billion Indian Military Cargo Plane Order

Airbus Group NV have won a $1.87 billion (119.3 billion rupees) order from India, encompassing 56 military cargo planes in order to help modernize the country’s military.

The C-295 planes will be jointly built with India’s Tata Advanced Systems Ltd., and will replace the outdated Avro cargo planes which currently make up the Indian Air Force fleet.

India will build 40 of the new transport aircraft, with the other 16 being built at Airbus plants in Europe.
