52100 is a high-carbon chromium ally steel, which is used in a variety of mechanical applications. In the annealed condition 52100 is comparatively easy to machine, however very high hardness and abrasion resistance can be achieved through heat treatment, along with high levels of tensile and fatigue strength. This material is commonly used in precision machine parts, gears, stamping tools, molds, pump parts, engine and hydraulic parts.
