Article The World’s Largest Lithium-Ion Battery Is Delivering Power To Australia Image

Elon Musk made good on his promise of delivering the world’s largest lithium-ion battery to South Australia.

Now, regardless of what the wind is doing on a day-to-day basis, clean wind energy can be provided to the grid 24/7, thanks to the 100MW battery farm.

The South Australian Government says the farm, which has enough storage capacity to power more than 30,000 homes, helps provide as much more reliable system overall.

Essentially, the world’s largest lithium-ion battery will act as a generator to 40,000km of transmission lines and cables across Australia.

“The completion of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery in record time shows that a sustainable, effective energy solution is possible,” Tesla said in a statement. “We are proud to be part of South Australia’s renewable energy future, and hope this project provides a model for future deployments around the world.

South Australia’s recent energy troubles have been widely documented, most notably the blackout which occurred this past September.

Tesla believes its massive battery will solve these issues, especially as it pertains to South Australia’s summertime peak loads.

A Guide to Purchasing Inconel: Tips and Considerations

Inconel® is a family of nickel-chromium superalloys known for high strength, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Well-suited to demanding applications, Inconel alloys typically comprise 50–70% nickel, 15–25% chromium, and other elements such as iron, cobalt, molybdenum, and tungsten. The specific composition of an Inconel alloy depends on its intended applicati

3D-Printed Metal Matrix Composite Could Boost High-Temperature Aerospace Components

A research team at the University of Toronto has created a metal matrix composite that stays light, strong, and stable at temperatures where most aluminum alloys fail. The material is produced through a combination of laser-based additive manufacturing and micro-casting, giving it a reinforced-concrete-like architecture on a microscopic scale. That structure delivers strength at both ambient and e
