The last Boeing B-29 was retired from active service in September 1960, most known for carrying out the devastating atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.

The four-engine heavy bomber was operational after WWII performing rescue duty, weather reconnaissance, antisubmarine patrol, and in-flight refueling, in addition to seeing military service again in Korea between 1950 and 1953.

Out of the approximately 4,000 B-29’s manufactured by Boeing, one named “FIFI” is the only one still flying, which is owned by the Commemorative Air Force.

Since the aircraft’s rescue in the early 1970s, FIFI has been a part of airshows, documentaries, demo flights and movies.
