Article Royal Navy Helicopter Transformed Into Luxury Holiday Home Image

If you love camping and spending holidays amid the pleasure of nature in fancy tents and classy tree houses, you will definitely admire this “innovative” new holiday rental home in Stirling, Scotland.

This unusual holiday home is basically a retired Royal Navy search-and-rescue helicopter which has been transformed into a luxurious and unique hotel.

Stirling farmer Martyn Steedman and his wife Louise bought a Royal Navy ZA127 Sea King Helicopter and have spent nearly £40,000 to convert it into a holiday home for six people.

Placed in the green pastures of Mains Farm in Stirling, Scotland, this stunning accommodation has a mini kitchen, shower room, a bed in the tail, and a cozy seating area in the cockpit. Although they have not done many alterations with the exterior of the helicopter, its interior is amazing with a sophisticated modern touch.

Mr. Steedman said, “We’ve retained the original dashboard, roof panel switches, and foot pedals, so customers can experience the helicopter as she once was and pretend they are flying her on a mission.”

To ensure that the helicopter stays cool in summer months and warm in winter months, the walls are properly insulated. Moreover, white painted wood paneling was added, which helps in enhancing the interior space. For providing ventilation and natural light, extra doors and windows were also added.

3D-Printed Metal Matrix Composite Could Boost High-Temperature Aerospace Components

A research team at the University of Toronto has created a metal matrix composite that stays light, strong, and stable at temperatures where most aluminum alloys fail. The material is produced through a combination of laser-based additive manufacturing and micro-casting, giving it a reinforced-concrete-like architecture on a microscopic scale. That structure delivers strength at both ambient and e
