Article Here’s Mercedes-Benz’s New Stylish X-Class Pick-Up Truck Image

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its new sleek and stylish premium pick-up truck.

Called the X-Class, the midsize truck features permanent all-wheel drive and high-torque V6 engines, with plans to hit the European and South American markets in late 2017.

At the moment, no US release date has been set.

“With the Mercedes-Benz pickup we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio,” said Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche in a press statement. “The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment.”

There will be two variations of the X-Class, with one geared towards off-road use and the other vehicle focusing on premium features. However, both versions of the truck look like sports cars and not the typical pick-up trucks you see driving around town.

With the X-Class, Mercedes is hoping to bridge the gap between urban and city driving by providing a truck for both “private and commercial use.”

But, the X-Class still comes equipped with the power many look for when buying a truck to the tune of a payload capacity of more than 1.1 ton and a towing capacity of around 3.5 tons.

3D-Printed Metal Matrix Composite Could Boost High-Temperature Aerospace Components

A research team at the University of Toronto has created a metal matrix composite that stays light, strong, and stable at temperatures where most aluminum alloys fail. The material is produced through a combination of laser-based additive manufacturing and micro-casting, giving it a reinforced-concrete-like architecture on a microscopic scale. That structure delivers strength at both ambient and e
