Article Boeing Surges Past Airbus On Orders For New Wide Body Planes Image

Boeing, for lack of a better word, is killing Airbus in the wide body jetliner market with 273 net order through July compared to Airbus’s negative 27, largely due to cancelled orders.

Incredibly, Boeing values its wide body plane market at roughly $2.5 trillion over the next 20 years!

Boeing set a record with 324 unadjusted orders in July, but Airbus claims to be storming back.

Airbus spokeswoman Maryanne Greczyn said on Friday, “The most important number is that 127 commitments. Once we firm those up, it will obviously alter the order roster significantly.”

AMS vs ASTM vs UNS: How Material Specifications Cross-Reference

A single alloy can carry half a dozen spec numbers. Inconel 718, for example, appears as AMS 5662 on an aerospace purchase order, ASTM B637 in a power-generation RFQ, and UNS N07718 in a cross-reference database. Each spec number points to the same nickel-chromium composition. For engineers and procurement teams sourcing specialty metals, the difference between a clean buy and a costly mismatch
