Nickel Inconel 625 AMS 5869
AMS 5869 is the aerospace material specification covering Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) sheet, strip and plate supplied in the solution heat-treated condition. It is the high-temperature grade of 625 flat-rolled product, intended for long service in the hot sections of engines and exhaust systems.
AMS 5869 is solution heat treated at a higher temperature than annealed material, about 2000–2200°F. That dissolves carbides and grows a coarser grain, giving the best creep and stress-rupture strength above about 1200°F (650°C), at the cost of somewhat lower room-temperature yield than annealed sheet. Engineers specify it when a part must hold its shape under sustained load at high temperature rather than peak strength at room temperature. This grade is often called 625 Grade 2.
Typical AMS 5869 parts:
- Engine exhaust liners, tailpipes and afterburner components
- Combustor and transition-duct sheet parts
- Hot-section heat shields and flame holders
- High-temperature bellows and expansion joints under sustained load
For maximum strength below 1200°F, see the companion specification AMS 5599 (annealed). Full composition, properties and physical constants are on the Inconel 625 alloy page. Tech Steel & Materials stocks AMS 5869 plate, sheet and strip to aerospace and defense tolerances. Request a quote for certified material sheared, slit or cut to your size and quantity.
