Aluminum 6061 AMS QQ A 200 16

QQ-A-200/16 is the federal specification for 6061 aluminum extruded structural shapes, typically in the T6 temper. SAE took it over as AMS-QQ-A-200/16 and then cancelled it in June 2007.

What defines QQ-A-200/16 is that it’s specific to standard structural profiles, not general bar and rod. It covers the angles, channels, I-beams, H-beams and tees that go into frames and supports, with shape tolerances suited to building structures. You’ll still find it on many military and government drawings for shelters, racks, platforms and vehicle frames. For new purchases, structural 6061 shapes are normally bought to ASTM B221 or ASTM B308.

Typical uses for QQ-A-200/16 shapes include:

• Angles and channels for military shelters and equipment racks
• I-beams and tees for platforms, walkways and trailers
• Structural frames for ground support equipment
