Aluminum 6061 AMS 4081

AMS 4081 is the aerospace material specification covering 6061 aluminum seamless drawn round tubing made to hydraulic quality and supplied in the T4 temper.

What defines AMS 4081 is that it’s hydraulic tube in a formable temper. Hydraulic quality means tighter controls on surface finish, cleanliness and freedom from defects than general-purpose tube, because the tube will carry pressurized fluid. Supplying it in T4 gives a tube that’s strong enough for pressure service but still ductile enough for tight bends and flared ends. Many shops bend and flare in T4 and then age the finished line to T6 for extra strength.

Typical uses for AMS 4081 include:

• Aircraft hydraulic and fuel lines that need tight bends
• Flared and beaded tube ends for fittings
• Pneumatic and lubrication lines
